Dedeian, Garbis

Garbis Dedeian (n. 24 Aprilie 1959, București) este un saxofonist, compozitor şi aranjor român de origine armeană, membru al Uniunii Compozitorilor și Muzicologilor din România. Beneficiind de un mediu familial prielnic apropierii de muzică, a urmat Liceul de Muzică nr. 1 din capitală şi Şcoala Populară de Artă unde a studiat clarinetul cu profesorul Florian Popa şi compoziţie / orchestraţie cu Richard Bartzer. Atras de jazz din adolescenţă, a făcut primii paşi sub îndrumarea regretatului Mihai Berindei iar în anul 1976 fondează un prim grup alcătuit cu fratele său, ghitaristul Capriel Dedeian, Tudy Zaharescu și Mario Dumitrescu.

Debutul interpretativ pe una din primele scene jazzistice ale ţării are loc in 1979 la Festivalul de Jazz de la Sibiu. De atunci a susţinut numeroase concerte şi a participat la cele mai importante festivaluri de jazz în ţară dar şi în Germania, Ungaria, Grecia, Italia, Franţa, Austria, Iugoslavia, Moldova, Ucraina, Bulgaria, Egipt. Combo-ului său de tineri instrumentişti a fost desemnat „Formaţia Anului 2003” de juriul Galei Premiilor de Jazz organizată de Societatea Română de Radiodifuziune, titlu prin care i se recunosc merite deosebite în afirmarea unor promiţătoare talente din tinerele generaţii.

Activitatea de saxofonist şi şef de formaţie a fost dublată de o susţinută creativitate componistică, o parte a creaţiilor sale muzicale, considerate valori de patrimoniu pentru jazz-ul autohton, fiind tipărite (Culegere de teme de jazz) şi/sau înregistrate în studio sau preluate live din festivalurile de jazz.

 

 

Garbis Dedeian (born April 24, 1959, Bucharest) is a Romanian saxophonist, composer and arranger of Armenian origin, member of the Union of Composers and Musicologists in Romania. Having a family environment favorable to music, he attended the Music High School no. 1 in Bucharest and the Popular Art School where he studied the clarinet with Professor Florian Popa and composition / orchestration with Richard Bartzer. He was attracted to jazz music in adolescence, took the first steps under the guidance of the late Mihai Berindei and in 1976 founded a first group composed of his brother, guitarist Capriel Dedeian, Tudy Zaharescu and Mario Dumitrescu.

The debut as jazz performer on one of the first jazz scenes of the country takes place in 1979 at the Jazz Festival in Sibiu. Since then, he has performed numerous concerts and has participated in the most important jazz festivals in the country, but also in Germany, Hungary, Greece, Italy, France, Austria, Yugoslavia, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Egypt. His combo of young instrumentalists was nominated as “The Jazz Band of the Year 2003” by the jury of the Jazz Awards Gala, organized by the Romanian Broadcasting Society, a title that recognizes great merits in affirming promising talents from younger generations.

Saxophonistand jazz band leader activity has been matched by sustained compositional creativity, a part of his musical creations, considered to be patrimony values for Romanian jazz, being printed (A Collection of Jazz themes) and / or recorded in the studio or taken over live from jazz festivals.
